I was watching Inception the other day and I noticed a lack of erotic subtext. The story is about people dreaming, there are plenty of shots of people sleeping. Together. But there is a distinct lack of beds. Instead, we have people sleeping in lawnchairs, cars, airplanes, trains, and even in a chair perched over a bathtub. When they do all bunk down in a hotel room, Ariadne gets her own chair instead of stretching out in bed with one (or more!) of the beautiful men in the room.
The whole movie took the old fanfic cliche of people who hated each other sleeping side by side and skipped merrily past it; no cuddling to see here. I, for one, would be incredibly happy to wake up next to Arthur.
